Friends of the Willingboro Public Library Partners with the Ward Educational Fund to Provide Liberian Schools with Books in Liberia, West Africa
August 8, 2011 – Paulette Doe-Williams was the catalyst behind this partnership with the Friends of the Willingboro public Library. Mrs. Doe-Williams, a Librarian at the library and an Advisory Board Member of the Victor E. Ward Educational Fund, invited the Ward Fund to the library for a donation of books. Through this connection, the Friends of the Library learned about the Ward Fund and invited us back to the Library to access a larger selection of its used books.
Mrs. Blanche Harris, Chairperson of the Used Books Committee and Mrs. Shirley Sharp Kendall, President of the Friends of the Willingboro Library have agreed to donate an indefinite amount of books to the Ward Educational Fund, including textbooks, encyclopedias, historical, and reference books.
The Victor E. Ward Educational Fund has picked up the first 5 cartons of books and will be shipping them to Liberia to be distributed to schools in need of books. We will be making another pick-up in Willingboro soon to pick up more books.
